We have officially changed our name to "Border Paws Animal Shelter"!
We understand this may come as a shock to many of you, so let us elaborate...
We have decided to shift away from the title of SPCA because it does not line up with what we do here.
SPCAs have enforcement officers and jurisdiction to go and rescue animals, and we do not have that authority.
We also do not receive any type of regular provincial or federal funding, instead relying mainly on donations to operate.
We work diligently with community Bylaw Officers, SK SPCA, and AB SPCA to ensure any complaints are
addressed, and we will continue to do so. But we are a shelter, not an "SPCA" or a rescue. And so we needed a
name to better reflect what we do. We decided on the name Border Paws Animal Shelter because Lloydminster
is unique and we want a name that encompasses our wonderful community that we serve.
While we may always be known as "the SPCA", we are excited for our new and exciting fresh start that 2022 has
brought our organization. In the coming months, we will be moving into our new facility and we can't wait to see you there.
We appreciate and thank you for your love and support!
Border Paws Animal Shelter (previously The Lloydminster & District SPCA) has been in operation for over 50 years, and while we are honored to continue to service our community, we are looking forward to a fresh start. We finally did, Lloydminster!
Over 1,100 animals pass through our doors every year. Did you know that the average cost to get our animals ready to be adoptable is roughly $350 per animal? That is because we require our adoptables to be spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated before adopting out.
Population control and disease management are issues in our community that we are working hard to resolve. Your donations helps ensure we can continue our mission.
We have an amazing team of hard working staff caring for our animals 7 days a week. They are supported by a group of engaged board members that are focused on bettering our organization.
One of our top level goals as we move forward is to be fully transparent and accountable with our generous donors. We know this is a big project, and we appreciate the interest it has generated.

Your sponsorship of these rooms will allow you to display your name or logo on not only the door to the room, but also wherever else you would like within the room. Some of the spaces even have large glass windows that look into the rooms from the lobby, and we're sure your name or logo would look great on it!
Your sponsorship to these rooms will be visible on the doors in the lobby, leading into the back area.

There are many ways that you can support the SPCA. Whether you register as a monthly donor or contribute to our spay and neuter fund, you can know that you are making a huge difference in an animal's life.
While we begin fundraising for our new facility, our daily operational costs still need to be managed.
